Sourabh Kharait, MD

Dr. Kharait joined Summit Nephrology in the spring of 2013. He grew up in India and completed his medical training at the B.J. Medical College, Pune, India. He immigrated to the United States in 2001 and earned a Ph.D. in Cellular Pathology from the University of Pittsburgh.

Following his residency, he completed a fellowship in Nephrology from the University of California, San Francisco, where he briefly remained on the faculty before joining Summit Nephrology. Dr. Kharait founded the Summit Clinical Research Institute, a research arm of Summit Nephrology, dedicated to bringing novel drug therapies to treat kidney disease. He currently serves as the Medical Director of Clinical Trials and Research at SCRI, in addition to maintaining an avid interest in molecular medicine. Dr. Kharait is the Medical Director of the Fresenius Dialysis center in Lincoln, CA. He is an active researcher and an author of numerous original research articles, reviews and book chapters. For a list of Dr. Kharait’s publications please click here. Dr. Kharait is a passionate wildlife photographer/enthusiast, and his hobbies include traveling with his family and playing golf. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology, and is fluent in English, Hindi and Marathi.
